Designer salt?

As the frenzy heats up to reduce salt contents in foods, PepsiCo's food group announced recently that it will design a special salt to lower the sodium intake of people eating Pepsi brand foods.  Are people really to the point that they cannot or will not control what they eat, so food companies now have to redesign their food to prevent people from further consuming too much?
